Have you given much thought to the kind of camping chair you have?

We have tried out many kinds in our family until we finally found one we really like. But what we like might be different from what you like. I suggest testing out a few before you settle on one. That means you may have to pull the chair out of the bag and sit in it in the middle of the store.

This may also mean you spend a bit more than you would like. But, if you have a rainy day when you are sitting under the awning you will be grateful you invested in a good camping chair…your back will thank you.

I actually have two chairs, one I use for just sitting around and chatting and I have my other after-swimming-chair that reclines.

Here are some things to consider when choosing a chair:

1)      How often do you camp? If not very much you can probably get away with a chair that you don’t care too much about but works.

2)      How big are you? Yes, this is something to consider. You don’t want your legs getting pinched under the arms of the chair, you should be comfortable.  Check the width of the chair.  Chairs come in a variety of widths.  Also check the weight capacity of the chair.  I have seen weight capacities go from 150lbs to 400lbs.

3)      Do you have a bad back? You want to keep this in mind when selecting the right chair.  Some chairs cause you to slouch or don’t give enough back support. Think about this as you try different chairs out.

4)      Do you want to recline? Check your options and see what is best for you.

As you prepare for the upcoming camping season keep these things in mind if you are out chair shopping. May you enjoy many comfortable happy evenings sitting by the campfire!
