Michigan Family Camping Activities
Camping in Michigan is different than year-round camping elsewhere in the United States. Our campers enjoy a wide variety of activities Spring, Summer and Fall, right within our family-friendly campground, plus we are located close to some favorite attractions in Southeastern Michigan.
A skilled bird handler (Craig Perdue) often visits to give an up-close experience learning about a variety of birds and how they survive in the wild. See our calendar for Bird Show dates, there are several opportunities to catch this unique show in 2015. Meet Clancy the Macaw, Rupert the Great Horned Owl, Glory the Harris’ Hawk and more!
Meet our Llamas – proud animals who have their own personality! Many children love watching them in the field near the back of the campground. Get some ‘llama gold’ from the camp store and you can have them eating out of the palm of your hand!
You may fish for small mouth bass and bluegill in our man-made ponds; fishing is catch-and-release only. We have fishing derbies on select weekends to see who can get the biggest fish. The largest bass caught so far was 22 inches long! Our man-made ponds are 10 to 25 feet deep, with the largest pond about 1 acre in size. Enjoy a kayak or paddle boat ride on this pond, but please remember that parents must sign them out and register at the camp office first and life jackets are required to use the boating equipment.
Some weekends feature Pebbles the Clown, who loves visiting with the children and showing them how to make balloon sculptures. Every weekend in 2015 has extra special activities, like our Camp Carnival, Wet & Wild, RC Race Car Weekend and 3 Halloween Weekends featuring a Haunted House. See our Calendar to find out about upcoming local events, scheduled activities, and special offers like Camping CAN Feed.
